Michael Mann is finally starting his Ferrari. For decades, the HEAT filmmaker has wanted to make a movie about Italian racing mogul Enzo Ferrari. There was even a time when his planned movie and James Mangold's FORD V FERRARI were head to head at the starting line. Obviously, Mangold's movie was made first.

Set in the summer of 1957, with Enzo Ferrari's auto empire in crisis, the ex-racer turned entrepreneur pushes himself and his drivers to the edge as they launch into the Mille Miglia, a treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy.
Between 1955 and 1971, eight Ferrari drivers were killed driving Enzo's own racing cars. It's the first half of this timeframe (between 1956 and 1961 to be exact) that Ferrari will focus on.
